How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Gruul Turf.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Gruul Turf.
5. When Gruul Turf dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Gruul Turf from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Gruul Turf enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns your zero-mana artifact into an engine by leveraging Toph, the First Metalbender's passive ability to treat nontoken artifacts as lands. With that foundation set, casting the artifact triggers Toph, Hardheaded Teacher to animate Gruul Turf into a creature via earthbending. You then feed that animated land to Thermopod to generate red mana. Because Gruul Turf is a land, its death triggers Toph, Hardheaded Teacher to bring it right back to the battlefield tapped, and its subsequent entry-triggered ability bounces your original artifact back to your hand thanks to Toph, the First Metalbender's land-type transformation.
