How it works

  1. Play Gruul Turf.
  2. Kodama of the East Tree, Sakashima the Impostor, and Gruul Turf trigger.
  3. Resolve the Sakashima the Impostor trigger, choosing not to put anything from your hand onto the battlefield.
  4. Resolve the Gruul Turf trigger, returning it to your hand.
  5. Resolve the Kodama of the East Tree trigger, putting Gruul Turf onto the battlefield.
  6. Sakashima the Impostor and Gruul Turf trigger.
  7. Resolve the Gruul Turf trigger, returning it to your hand.
  8. Resolve the Sakashima the Impostor token's trigger, putting Gruul Turf onto the battlefield.
  9. Kodama of the East Tree and Gruul Turf trigger.
  10. Repeat from step 5.

This clever loop relies on Kodama of the East Tree and its ability to cheat a permanent into play whenever another permanent enters the battlefield, provided the mana value is equal or lesser. By having Sakashima the Impostor enter the battlefield as a copy of Kodama, you effectively double up on these triggers so that playing a single land can orchestrate a cascade of entries. When you drop Gruul Turf, its bounce ability forces it right back to your hand, but before it leaves, the dual Kodama triggers intercept the event to instantly slam the land back down. This creates a self-sustaining loop that generates infinite landfall triggers entirely on the back of a single land drop.
