How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing a nontoken Saproling or creature with changeling.
  2. When the creature dies, Yedora triggers, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield face down as a Forest land and as a 1/1 Saproling due to Life and Limb.
  3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power.
  4. Repeat.

This fascinating loop transforms a simple sacrifice into a devastating mill engine by weaving together three distinct permanent types into a self-sustaining cycle. When you sacrifice a creature to Altar of Dementia, Yedora, Grave Gardener immediately catches its demise, pulling it back from the graveyard to the battlefield face down. Ordinarily, Yedora would turn it into a plain old Forest, but the passive presence of Life and Limb dynamically redefines all Forests as 1/1 green Saproling creatures in addition to their land type. This means the newly returned permanent re-enters ready to be sacrificed right back to Altar of Dementia, letting you mill your opponents' entire libraries through an endless succession of repeatable sacrifices.
