How it works

1. Activate Unnatural Selection by paying 1, giving Ingenious Artillerist the Pirate creature type until end of turn.
2. Cause an artifact to enter the battlefield under your control.
3. Ingenious Artillerist triggers, dealing 1 damage to each opponent.
4. Malcolm triggers, as Ingenious Artillerist is a Pirate due to Unnatural Selection, creating a Treasure token for each opponent dealt damage this way.
5. When the Treasure(s) enter, Ingenious Artillerist triggers that many times.
6. Resolve the first Ingenious Artillerist trigger, dealing 1 damage to each opponent.
7. Repeat from step 4.

This brilliant loop turns a humble artificer into a swashbuckling pirate with the help of Unnatural Selection, letting Ingenious Artillerist punch your opponents every time an artifact lands. Because Ingenious Artillerist temporarily gains the Pirate creature type, its own damage-dealing trigger satisfies Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator to instantly mint a fresh Treasure token for each opponent struck. Those incoming Treasures naturally trigger Ingenious Artillerist all over again, creating a self-sustaining loop of explosive pings and glittering loot that easily buries the entire table.
