How it works

  1. Activate Dinosaur Headdress' equip ability by paying 2, attaching it to Priest of Gix and causing Priest of Gix to become a copy of Cavalier of Night.
  2. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing Priest of Gix.
  3. When Priest of Gix dies, its second ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  4. When Priest of Gix enters the battlefield, it triggers, adding B manaB manaB mana.
  5. Resolve the Yahenni ability, causing it to gain indestructible until end of turn.
  6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the identity-shifting magic of Dinosaur Headdress (the back face of Paleontologist's Pick-Axe) into an engine of continuous rebirth, relying on Priest of Gix as the core engine piece that both generates the mana and continually returns itself. By attaching the transformed equipment to Priest of Gix, you force it to copy Cavalier of Night, whose low mana value and recursive death trigger allow the priest to fish itself right back out of the graveyard every time it goes to the bin. You can sacrifice the copied priest on demand using Yahenni, Undying Partisan, which not only fuels the sacrifice loop and protects itself with indestructible, but also safely pockets infinite death triggers along the way.
