How it works

1. Activate Dinosaur Headdress' equip ability by paying 2, attaching it to Priest of Gix and causing Priest of Gix to become a copy of Cavalier of Night.
2. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Priest of Gix.
3. When Priest of Gix dies, its second ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. When Priest of Gix enters the battlefield, it triggers, adding .
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to Priest of Gix's power.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble ritual creature into a recursive engine by utilizing Paleontologist's Pick-Axe // Dinosaur Headdress to make Priest of Gix a living copy of Cavalier of Night. Once the Priest is wearing the transformed equipment and masquerades as the Cavalier, you can sacrifice it to Altar of Dementia. Because its copy effect makes it a Cavalier of Night, its death triggers a return of a creature with mana value 3 or less—namely, the Priest itself—right back to the battlefield, where its fresh entry generates a surplus of black mana via Priest of Gix's own mana-producing trigger.
