How it works
- Gain life.
- Heliod triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Fathom Mage.
- Fathom Mage triggers, causing you to draw a card.
- Sheoldred triggers, causing you to gain 2 life.
- Repeat from step 2.
This elegant loop transforms any initial burst of lifegain into a self-sustaining engine by turning card draw directly back into life. The sequence starts when Heliod, Sun-Crowned responds to your life gain by placing a +1/+1 counter on Fathom Mage, which immediately triggers Fathom Mage to draw a card. That newly drawn card triggers Sheoldred, the Apocalypse to restore your life total by 2, which in turn restarts Heliod, Sun-Crowned's blessing all over again. Together, this trio creates a closed loop of endless card drawing and lifegain.
