Flare of Duplication
Infinite magecraft triggers

How it works

  1. Cast any instant or sorcery by paying its mana cost.
  2. Holding priority, activate Pyromancer's Goggles by tapping it, adding R mana.
  3. Cast Flare of Duplication by paying its mana cost or by sacrificing a nontoken red creature, targeting the instant or sorcery cast in step 1.
  4. Pyromancer's Goggles triggers, copying Flare of Duplication, with the copy targeting the original Flare of Duplication.
  5. Resolve the copy of Flare of Duplication, creating a copy of Flare of Duplication targeting the original Flare of Duplication.
  6. Repeat step 5.

This clever loop begins by leveraging Pyromancer's Goggles not just for its mana, but for its powerful static-triggering ability that rewards you for spending that red mana on a red instant or sorcery. By casting Flare of Duplication—which can be cast for its mana cost or discounted by sacrificing a nontoken red creature—and targeting your initial spell, you set the Goggles' duplication trigger into motion. The Goggles then copy the Flare of Duplication, and because that copy targets the original Flare of Duplication, you create a recursive loop of self-targeting copies that repeats infinitely. This engine endlessly copies the Flare of Duplication to rack up infinite magecraft triggers without ever needing to advance the board state.
