Alania, Divergent Storm + Return the Favor

U manaR mana
Alania, Divergent Storm
Alania, Divergent Storm
Return the Favor
Return the Favor
Infinite magecraft triggers

How it works

  1. Cast the additional sorcery by paying its mana cost.
  2. Alania triggers; choose not to have an opponent draw a card.
  3. Holding priority, cast Return the Favor by paying 1R manaR mana, targeting the additional sorcery.
  4. Alania triggers, causing an opponent to draw a card and you to copy Return the Favor, with the copy targeting the original Return the Favor.
  5. Resolve the copy of Return the Favor, copying the original Return the Favor, with the copy targeting the original Return the Favor.
  6. Repeat step 5.

This clever loop lets you generate infinite spell copies by feeding Return the Favor back into itself. As you cast your spells, Alania, Divergent Storm steps in to copy your initial instant or sorcery, but the real engine gets rolling when you cast Return the Favor with its copy mode paid for. By targeting the original spell with its own copy, you can perpetually replicate the effect using Alania, Divergent Storm's first-spell trigger to kick off the chain. The result is a self-sustaining loop of Return the Favor copies that endlessly triggers any magecraft abilities you might have on the board.
