How it works

1. Activate Atog by sacrificing Wingrattle Scarecrow
2. When Wingrattle Scarecrow dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Wingrattle Scarecrow enters, Yotian Dissident triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Wingrattle Scarecrow
4. Resolve the Atog ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Atog into a monstrous threat by using its sacrifice ability to feed into an endless cycle of rebirth. Whenever you feed Wingrattle Scarecrow to the jaw of Atog, its persist ability brings it straight back to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter, which is immediately canceled out by the +1/+1 counter granted by Yotian Dissident's watchful trigger. Because the counters annihilate each other, Wingrattle Scarecrow returns with a clean slate ready to be sacrificed all over again, generating an infinite storm of artifact and creature triggers along the way.
