How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Phantasmal Image, adding .
2. When Phantasmal Image dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Driver of the Dead.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Thermopod into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing Phantasmal Image copying Driver of the Dead. When you sacrifice the Image to the Pod for red mana, its death triggers Driver of the Dead's ability—since its mana value is 2 or less—allowing it to return itself straight to the battlefield. As it re-enters, you simply have Phantasmal Image copy Driver of the Dead all over again, setting up an endless cycle that yields infinite red mana along with a storm of enter-the-battlefield, leave-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
