How it works

1. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing Phantasmal Image.
2. When Phantasmal Image dies, its last ability from Cavalier of Night triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Cavalier of Night.
3. When Phantasmal Image enters the battlefield, its first triggered ability from Cavalier of Night triggers; choose not to sacrifice a creature.
4. Resolve the Yahenni ability from step 1.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Yahenni, Undying Partisan into an engine of continuous sacrifice by turning Phantasmal Image into a revolving door of magical echoes. When you feed the clone to Yahenni, the underlying rules ensure that the dying Phantasmal Image remembers the text it copied, allowing Cavalier of Night's death trigger to instantly fish it right back out of the graveyard. As the returning Phantasmal Image re-enters as a fresh copy of Cavalier of Night, it triggers its own entrance ability—which you can simply decline—while endlessly padding Yahenni's stat line and generating a virtually endless chain of death and sacrifice triggers.
