How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Phantasmal Image.
2. When Phantasmal Image dies, its last ability from Cavalier of Night triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Cavalier of Night.
3. When Phantasmal Image enters the battlefield, its first triggered ability from Cavalier of Night triggers; choose not to sacrifice a creature.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability from step 1.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop revolves around Shilgengar, Sire of Famine serving as both the sacrificial outlet and the engine that turns your sacrifices into Blood tokens. By feeding Phantasmal Image—which is currently a copy of Cavalier of Night—to Shilgengar's first ability, you trigger the copy's death trigger. That dying trigger lets Cavalier of Night reach into your graveyard to bring itself right back to the battlefield, seamlessly copying Cavalier of Night once more as it enters. Because Shilgengar's ability also generates the Blood tokens you need to eventually mass-reanimate your entire graveyard, you can cycle this sequence indefinitely to harvest infinite sacrifice triggers and Blood tokens.
