How it works

1. Cast Carnage by paying 2. When it enters, it triggers, returning Phantasmal Image from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Carnage.
2. Put Phantasmal Image into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
3. Phantasmal Image's enter-the-battlefield ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Carnage.
4. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop hinges on Phantasmal Image entering the battlefield as a copy of Carnage, Crimson Chaos, which immediately triggers a legend rule check that sends the copy straight to the graveyard. Because Carnage's own enter-the-battlefield ability brings back a creature with mana value 3 or less, it can target the very same Phantasmal Image resting in your graveyard to start the cycle anew. This endless recursion generates infinite enter-the-battlefield triggers, leaves-the-battlefield triggers, and death triggers without ever needing to cast another spell.
