How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Furystoke Giant.
2. When Furystoke Giant dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
4. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Furystoke Giant.
5. When Furystoke Giant dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
7. Repeat.

This brilliant loop relies on a clever mechanical counter-cancellation trick fueled by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, whose static ability grants undying to your non-Human creatures like Furystoke Giant. When you sacrifice the Giant to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine, its persist ability brings it back with a -1/-1 counter; sacrificing it a second time triggers its newly granted undying, returning it with a +1/+1 counter which immediately annihilates the lingering -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. Because this reset leaves the card with zero counters each time it enters the graveyard anew, you can continually feed the Giant back to Shilgengar to churn out an endless stream of Blood tokens.
