How it works

  1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Furystoke Giant.
  2. When Furystoke Giant dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
  4. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Furystoke Giant.
  5. When Furystoke Giant dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
  6. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
  7. Repeat.

This clever loop is orchestrated by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, whose static ability grants undying to all your non-Human creatures while giving Furystoke Giant a crucial +1/+1 buff. When you use Umbral Collar Zealot to sacrifice Furystoke Giant, its persist ability brings it back bearing a -1/-1 counter, which neatly neutralizes any existing counters. Sacrificing the giant a second time triggers its newly granted undying ability instead, returning it with a +1/+1 counter that annihilates the previous -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This alternating dance between persist and undying lets you endlessly recycle Furystoke Giant to fuel Umbral Collar Zealot's sacrifice outlet, repeating the cycle as many times as you desire for infinite death triggers and surveil depth.
