How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
4. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
5. When Lesser Masticore dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the opposing mechanical nature of Lesser Masticore's persist ability and the undying granted by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed to create a perpetual resurrection engine. By sacrificing Lesser Masticore to Carrion Feeder, the creature continuously bounces between the graveyard and the battlefield because the -1/-1 counter from persist and the +1/+1 counter from undying constantly cancel each other out upon subsequent deaths. Meanwhile, Carrion Feeder happily grows to arbitrarily large sizes while reaping the infinite stream of death, entry, and sacrifice triggers.
