How it works

1. Activate Bloodflow Connoisseur by sacrificing Safehold Elite.
2. When Safehold Elite dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Bloodflow Connoisseur ability.
4. Activate Bloodflow Connoisseur by sacrificing Safehold Elite.
5. When Safehold Elite dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Bloodflow Connoisseur ability.
7. Repeat.

This elegant loop exploits the mathematical interplay between opposing counters to create an unstoppable cycle of sacrifice and rebirth. By using Bloodflow Connoisseur to feed on Safehold Elite, you trigger both persist and undying—mechanics granted to the Elite by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed's static lord ability. Because the +1/+1 counter from undying and the -1/-1 counter from persist annihilate each other upon entering the battlefield as state-based actions, Safehold Elite is perpetually reset with a clean slate, ready to be sacrificed over and over to grow your Bloodflow Connoisseur to astronomical proportions.
