How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Hero, adding .
2. When Optimus Prime, Hero dies, its second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader.
3. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader, adding .
4. When Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader dies, Mikaeus triggers, returning Optimus Prime from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Hero with a +1/+1 counter on it.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the back-and-forth transformations of Optimus Prime, Hero and Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader into a self-sustaining engine fueled by Thermopod's sacrifice outlet. While Mikaeus, the Unhallowed provides the undying trigger to bring the robot back with a +1/+1 counter when its back side perishes, Optimus Prime's own death trigger naturally returns it converted without needing a counter—allowing the two recursion effects to alternate endlessly. As you continuously sacrifice the alternating sides to Thermopod for red mana, you generate an infinite stream of sacrifice, death, enter-the-battlefield, and leave-the-battlefield triggers.
