How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing it.
2. When Thermopod dies, its undying ability triggers, returning Thermopod from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing it.
4. When Thermopod dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns the ever-shifting nature of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into a private engine of perpetual motion, thanks to the static bonuses bestowed by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. By granting non-human creatures both undying and persist while Isilu's front face allows you to pivot its state, any sacrifice outlet like Thermopod suddenly becomes a perpetual sacrifice machine. As Thermopod bounces back and forth between the graveyard and the battlefield—alternately picking up a +1/+1 counter from Mikaeus and a -1/-1 counter from Isilu's persist ability—the counters continually cancel each other out, allowing you to feed the Alchemical furnace indefinitely for an endless stream of red mana.
