How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Hero.
2. When Optimus Prime, Hero dies, its second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader.
3. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader.
4. When Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader dies, Mikaeus triggers, returning Optimus Prime from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Hero with a +1/+1 counter on it.
5. Resolve both Altar of Dementia abilities from steps 1 and 3, causing target player to mill cards equal to Optimus Prime, Hero and Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader's combined power.
6. Repeat.

This crafty loop bridges the gap between our heroic Autobot and the undead arts by exploiting Optimus Prime, Hero's double-faced nature and its built-in return trigger. When you sacrifice it to Altar of Dementia, it returns to the battlefield transformed as Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader, which can then be sacrificed right back to the altar. Because Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader is a non-Human, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed's static lord effect grants it undying, bringing it back to the battlefield as its front face—and thanks to that +1/+1 counter from undying, the cycle resets itself indefinitely to mill out your opponents.
