How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrifiicing Pith Driller.
2. When Pith Driller dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. When Pith Driller enters the battlefield, it triggers, putting a -1/-1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Mikaeus, the Unhallowed into an engine for infinite graveyard fodder, relying on his static lord effect to grant undying to the rest of your board. When you use Umbral Collar Zealot to sacrifice Pith Driller, Mikaeus brings Pith Driller straight back to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter thanks to undying. However, Pith Driller’s own enter-the-battlefield trigger counters that plan by placing a -1/-1 counter on itself; state-based actions immediately cause the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters to annihilate each other, leaving Pith Driller clean and ready to be sacrificed all over again.
