How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing another nontoken non-Human creature
2. When the creature dies, its undying ability triggers, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing the creature with a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. When the creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot abilities from step 1 and 3.
6. Repeat.

This delightfully macabre loop is orchestrated by Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, whose static ability grants undying to all your non-Human creatures while pumping them up with a +1/+1 counter. Meanwhile, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight offers a brilliant dual-nature engine; once flipped to Isilu, it grants your nontoken creatures persist, letting them alternate between undying and persist as counters cancel each other out. You feed this perpetual motion machine to Umbral Collar Zealot, sacrificing your creatures over and over to continuously churn through your library with infinite surveil triggers.
