How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Heartmender.
2. When Heartmender dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
4. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Heartmender.
5. When Heartmender dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop pairs Bartolomé del Presidio's cheap sacrifice outlet with Heartmender to continuously churn through the graveyard. Because Mikaeus, the Unhallowed grants undying to non-Human creatures while Heartmender brings its own persist ability to the table, the two resurrection mechanics alternate endlessly whenever Heartmender hits the dirt. Each time Heartmender returns with a mismatched counter, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed's static lord bonus and Heartmender's upkeep trigger work together to cancel out the counters, allowing the cycle to repeat forever and pump Bartolomé del Presidio to infinite size alongside an infinite stream of sacrifice and death triggers.
