How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Morselhoarder.
  2. When Morselhoarder dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a +1/+1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
  3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability
  4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Mikaeus, the Unhallowed granting undying to turn every trip to the graveyard into a resurrection, which fuels Woe Strider's sacrifice outlet without ever running out of fodder. The real magic, however, lies in Morselhoarder and its unique relationship with counters; because its own mana-producing ability allows you to strip away its -1/-1 counters, it can repeatedly enter the battlefield and immediately clear away any opposing counters it might accumulate. This self-cleaning engine not only loops infinitely to generate endless sacrifice and death triggers, but it also pumps out an infinite supply of colored mana and scrys along the way.
