Woe Strider

How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Hero.
2. When Optimus Prime, Hero dies, its second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader.
3. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader.
4. When Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader dies, Mikaeus triggers, returning Optimus Prime from your graveyard to the battlefield as Optimus Prime, Hero with a +1/+1 counter on it.
5. Resolve both Woe Strider abilities from steps 1 and 3, causing you to scry 1 twice.
6. Repeat.

This loop relies on the brilliant interaction between Optimus Prime, Hero // Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader and the static lord ability of Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, which grants non-Human creatures undying. When you sacrifice Optimus Prime, Hero to Woe Strider, its own death trigger returns it to the battlefield converted as Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader. Sacrificing that robot form then causes Mikaeus, the Unhallowed to trigger, returning it back as the hero side with a +1/+1 counter because of undying. Because the counter goes on the hero face, the cycle can immediately restart when you sacrifice it to Woe Strider once more, fueling an endless loop of sacrifices and scries.
