How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Golgari Thug.
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it triggers, putting itself from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing you to mill cards equal to Golgari Thug's power, which will cause you to mill Golgari Thug.
4. As Golgari Thug is a Lhurgoyf due to Maskwood Nexus, Disa's first ability triggers, returning Golgari Thug from your graveyard to the battlefield.
5. Repeat.

This elegant self-sustaining loop relies on Maskwood Nexus to turn Golgari Thug into a Lhurgoyf, allowing Disa the Restless to intercept it every time it's put into the graveyard. By sacrificing the Thug to Altar of Dementia, you mill your library and trigger the Thug's own ability to place itself back onto your library just in time to be milled away again. Because it enters the graveyard from your library rather than the battlefield, Disa's replacement effect or triggered ability immediately brings it straight back to the battlefield, ready to be sacrificed anew for an endless cycle of self-mill and death triggers.
