How it works

1. Activate Tortured Existence by paying and discarding a creature card, returning any other creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
2. Insidious Roots triggers, creating a 0/1 Plant creature token, then putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
3. Activate the Plant by tapping it, adding .
4. Repeat.

This elegant recycling loop begins with Tortured Existence, which provides the engine to continuously swap creature cards between your hand and graveyard for a single mana. Every time a creature card departs the graveyard, Insidious Roots seizes the moment to spawn a 0/1 Plant token while steadily growing your growing garden with +1/+1 counters. Those very same Plant tokens then tap for the black mana needed to fuel Tortured Existence thanks to Insidious Roots' built-in mana ability. Meanwhile, Urabrask the Hidden ensures that your newly hatched swarm can immediately tap for mana the turn they arrive thanks to haste, while conveniently keeping opposing threats entering the battlefield tapped.
