How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Pearl Medallion.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Daxos triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Daxos trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Daxos trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns Whitemane Lion into a completely free, self-returning engine by stacking cost reductions from both Defiler of Faith and Pearl Medallion so that its mana value drops to zero. Each time the Lion bounces itself back to your hand and is recast for zero mana and two life, the Defiler of Faith triggers to flood your board with 1/1 Soldier creature tokens. Finally, Daxos, Blessed by the Sun acts as your life-gaining pay-off, padding your total with every single token arrival and departure while simultaneously scaling its own toughness with your devotion to white.
