How it works
- Cast Avenger of Zendikar by paying 5.
- Avenger of Zendikar enters the battlefield, triggering itself, creating at least five 0/1 Plant creature tokens.
- Activate Phyreixan Altar five times by sacrificing Avenger of Zendikar and four Plant tokens, adding .
- Activate Horde of Notions by paying , casting Avenger of Zendikar from your graveyard without paying its mana cost.
- Repeat from step 2.
- Once you have infinite creature tokens, you may activate Phyrexian Altar any number of times.
This fascinating loop turns your graveyard into a workshop for an unstoppable army by using Horde of Notions as an engine to repeatedly deploy Avenger of Zendikar straight from the yard. Each time the Avenger enters the battlefield, its landfall-like ability floods your board with Plant tokens, which are then immediately converted into raw mana by sacrificing them—along with the Avenger itself—to Phyrexian Altar. The mana generated by this sacrifice funds the five-color activation cost of Horde of Notions, allowing you to cast the Avenger over and over again to amass infinite creature tokens, enter-the-battlefield triggers, and colored mana.
