How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Greedy Freebooter, adding .
2. When Greedy Freebooter dies, it and Enduring Renewal trigger.
3. Resolve the Greedy Freebooter trigger, causing you to scry 1 and create a Treasure token.
4. Resolve the Enduring Renewal trigger, returning Greedy Freebooter from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
6. Cast Greedy Freebooter by paying .
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the unassuming Greedy Freebooter into a self-sustaining engine by relying on Enduring Renewal to instantly bounce the creature back to your hand whenever it hits the graveyard. Thermopod provides the necessary sacrifice outlet, converting each iteration into red mana while also offering the snow-source flexibility needed to activate its abilities. Meanwhile, the Treasure token generated by the Freebooter upon dying can be sacrificed to pay for its re-casting cost, keeping the loop entirely closed and self-funding.
