How it works

1. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing Reputable Merchant.
2. When Reputable Merchant dies, its innate ability and persist ability trigger.
3. Resolve the Reputable Merchant trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on a creature you control.
4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning Reputable Merchant from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. When Reputable Merchant enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
7. Repeat.
