How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Wakandan Royal Guard.
2. When Wakandan Royal Guard dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Wakandan Royal Guard enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the constant resurrection cycle of Wakandan Royal Guard, whose persist ability—granted by Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn)—brings it back with a -1/-1 counter whenever it dies. Umbral Collar Zealot provides the sacrifice outlet to send the Guard to the graveyard while letting you repeatedly surveil through your deck. Every time the Guard returns, its own enter-the-battlefield trigger places a +1/+1 counter on it, which immediately neutralizes the existing -1/-1 counter and resets the creature so the loop can be performed again.
