How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability and Necrosynthesis trigger.
3. Resolve the Lesser Masticore trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter and a vigilance counter on it.
4. Resolve the Necrosynthesis trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Tayam.
5. Activate Tayam by paying 3, removing a +1/+1 counter from Tayam, and both counters from Lesser Masticore.
6. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
7. Repeat steps 2-4 one additional time.
8. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
9. Resolve Tayam's ability from step 5, causing you to mill three cards and returning Lesser Masticore from your graveyard to the battlefield.
10. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns the persistent self-sacrifice of Lesser Masticore into an engine of endless rebirth, fueled by the mana from Ashnod's Altar. As Lesser Masticore enters and dies repeatedly, Necrosynthesis grows Tayam, Luminous Enigma with the necessary counters to fuel Tayam's activation cost. Every time Tayam clears the counters off Lesser Masticore and pulls it straight back from the graveyard, you generate infinite colorless mana, self-mill your library, and cycle through an unending stream of enter-the-battlefield and death triggers.
