How it works
Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability and Sengir's first ability trigger.
Resolve the Lesser Masticore trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter and a vigilance counter on it.
Resolve the Sengir trigger, putting two +1/+1 counters on Sengir.
Activate Tayam by paying 3, removing a +1/+1 counter from Sengir, and both counters from Lesser Masticore.
Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
Repeat steps 2-4 one additional time.
Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding CC.
Resolve Tayam's ability from step 5, causing you to mill three cards and returning Lesser Masticore from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Repeat.
This clever loop turns the endless cycle of death and resurrection into an infinite engine, fueled directly by Ashnod's Altar converting sacrificed creatures into raw colorless mana. Lesser Masticore is the engine's heart, using persist to return from the dead, while Tayam, Luminous Enigma ensures it arrives with a helpful vigilance counter alongside its natural -1/+1 counter. These accumulated counters serve as fuel for Tayam's ability, which constantly resurrects the Masticore while Sengir, the Dark Baron grows exponentially larger with every single sacrifice by collecting a flurry of +1/+1 counters from the constant stream of dying creatures.
