How it works

1. Cast Bill the Pony by paying .
2. When Bill the Pony enters the battlefield, it and Samwise trigger.
3. Resolve the Samwise trigger, creating a Food artifact token.
4. Resolve the Bill the Pony trigger, creating two Food artifact tokens.
5. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Bill the Pony, adding .
6. Activate Samwise by sacrificing three Foods, returning Bill the Pony to your hand from your graveyard.
7. Repeat.

This loop turns a modest pony and a legendary hobbit into a self-sustaining engine, fueled by the recursive power of Phyrexian Altar. When you cast Bill the Pony for just a single white mana, its entry alongside Samwise Gamgee floods your board with Food tokens to keep the machine running. Once Bill is sacrificed to Phyrexian Altar for mana, Samwise's secondary ability steps in to cash in three of those generated Foods, pulling Bill right back out of your graveyard and back to your hand. Meanwhile, Hamza, Guardian of Arashin lurks in the wings, transforming all those accumulated counters and discount-friendly creatures into an engine that can easily outpace traditional mana costs if you branch out further.
