Phantom Train

How it works

1. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the persist creature enters, Surrak and Goreclaw triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on the persist creature.
4. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
5. Repeat

By leveraging Surrak and Goreclaw, every time your persist creature returns to the battlefield, its static entry trigger immediately hands it a +1/+1 counter and haste. That freshly placed positive counter gracefully cancels out the creature's pesky -1/-1 counter from persist via state-based actions, resetting its mortality. This leaves the creature wide open to be fed right back into Phantom Train's sacrifice ability to grow the Vehicle itself and loop the entire process infinitely.
