How it works
- Cast Demonic Consultation by paying , naming a card not in your library and exiling your library.
- Cast Beacon of Immortality by paying 5, doubling your life total and shuffling it into your library.
- Cast Beacon of Immortality from the top of your library by paying 6 life, doubling your life total and shuffling it into your library.
- Repeat step 3.
This elegant loop begins by casting Demonic Consultation, naming a non-existent card to cleanly exile your entire library so that only the top of your deck matters. With the library empty, you cast Beacon of Immortality from your hand, which doubles your life total before shuffling itself right back onto the top of your now-empty library. This sets the stage for Gwenom, Remorseless, whose lifelink and deathtouch are nice bonuses, but whose attack trigger is the true engine: it lets you play cards from the top of your library and pay life equal to their mana value instead of their mana cost. Because your life total was just doubled by Beacon of Immortality, you have more than enough life to repeatedly pay for that six-mana value, casting the shuffled Beacon over and over again to scale your life total toward infinity.
