How it works

1. Cast Shrieking Drake by paying .
2. When Shrieking Drake enters the battlefield, it and Metastatic Evangel trigger.
3. Resolve the Shrieking Drake trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
4. Resolve the Metastatic Evangel trigger, putting a charge counter on Gemstone Array.
5. Activate Gemstone Array's second ability by removing a charge counter from it, adding .
6. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Shrieking Drake's mandatory self-bounce to constantly re-enter the battlefield, which in turn triggers Metastatic Evangel to repeatedly proliferate. Because Metastatic Evangel adds a counter to anything already bearing one, it feeds the charge counters on Gemstone Array. You can then crack those very same charge counters from Gemstone Array for mana to recast the Drake, sustaining the entire engine indefinitely.
