How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Guildless Commons.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Thaumatog by sacrificing Guildless Commons.
5. When Guildless Commons dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Guildless Commons from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Guildless Commons enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Thaumatog ability
8. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the battlefield into an engine by using Toph, the First Metalbender to magically reclassify your nontoken artifacts as lands, allowing Guildless Commons to bounce them right back to your hand. As you repeatedly recast your free artifact, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers its cast ability to earthbend the Commons, setting it up as a fresh sacrifice target for Thaumatog. Once the Commons hits the graveyard, Toph's earthbend clause ensures it safely returns to the battlefield tapped, instantly triggering its own self-bounce ability to scoop up the artifact and ready the loop for another iteration.
