How it works

1. Give Spitemare indestructible, and then deal damage to Spitemare.
2. Spitemare and Soul Link's second ability trigger.
3. Resolve the Soul Link trigger, causing you to gain that much life.
4. Resolve the Spitemare trigger, dealing that much damage to itself.
5. Spitemare and Soul Link's first and second abilities trigger.
6. Resolve both Soul Link triggers, causing you to gain life equal to twice the damage dealt.
7. Repeat from step 4.

By granting Spitemare indestructible, you set up a perpetual loop of self-inflicted damage that feeds directly back into its own reflexive trigger. Soul Link is the crucial linchpin that turns this violent cycle of internal damage into a massive windfall, doubling your dividends by triggering both when Spitemare is dealt damage and when it deals that damage right back to itself.
