How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Cult Conscript.
2. When Cult Conscript dies, Pitiless Plunderer and Totentanz trigger, creating a creature token and a Treasure token.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
4. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the creature token.
5. When the creature token dies, Pitiless Plunderer triggers, creating a Treasure token.
6. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
7. Activate the Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding 1.
8. Activate Cult Conscript by paying 1, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
9. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Pitiless Plunderer to act as your financial engine, refunding the mana you need every time something hits the dirt. You start by sacrificing Cult Conscript to Altar of Dementia, which triggers Pitiless Plunderer for a Treasure and Totentanz, Swarm Piper to generate a replacement Rat token. When you subsequently feed that Rat token to Altar of Dementia, Pitiless Plunderer kicks in again to fund your operations. The Treasures you've accumulated provide the exact mana required to bring Cult Conscript right back from the graveyard, letting you mill your opponents out card by card in a never-ending cycle of sacrifice and rebirth.
