How it works

  1. Declare Combat Celebrant and the creature with Stolen Identity encoded as attackers, choosing to exert Combat Celebrant as it attacks.
  2. Combat Celebrant triggers, untapping all other creatures you control and to get an additional combat phase after this one.
  3. Deal combat damage to an opponent using the creature that has Stolen Identity encoded.
  4. Stolen Identity triggers, casting a copy of itself without paying its mana cost.
  5. Resolve Stolen Identity, creating a token copy of Combat Celebrant.
  6. Repeat each combat phase using the Combat Celebrant token instead.

This infinite combat loop hinges on keeping our attacking forces perpetually fresh and multiplying our threats. By leveraging Anger sitting in the graveyard alongside a Mountain, our freshly created token copies of Combat Celebrant instantly gain haste so they can attack and exert themselves right away. When Combat Celebrant is exerted during an attack, it untaps all other creatures you control and grants an additional combat phase. Meanwhile, the original Combat Celebrant (or another suitable attacker) has Stolen Identity encoded onto it via cipher, allowing you to cast a free copy of Stolen Identity whenever it connects with an opponent. Resolving that spell churns out a brand-new token copy of Combat Celebrant, letting you seamlessly transition into the next combat phase and repeat the entire process indefinitely.
