How it works

1. Activate Quicksilver Elemental twice by paying , causing it to gain the activated abilities of Smokebraider and Knacksaw Clique until end of turn.
2. Activate Quicksilver Elemental using Smokebraider's ability by tapping it, adding 1 that can only be spent to cast Elemental spells or to activate abilities of Elementals.
3. Activate Quicksilver Elemental using Knacksaw Clique's ability by paying 1 and untapping it, causing target opponent to exile the top card of their library.
4. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop turns Quicksilver Elemental into a self-contained engine by borrowing the precise tools it needs from its peers. First, Quicksilver Elemental copies the activated abilities of both Smokebraider and Knacksaw Clique, allowing it to tap for mana and untap itself. Because Smokebraider provides the exact blue and generic mana needed to pay for Knacksaw Clique's untap cost—and Quicksilver Elemental's own text lets you spend blue mana as any color to pay its activation costs—the engine becomes completely self-sustaining. You can repeat this process as many times as you like, milling your opponents' entire libraries card by card until nothing is left.
