How it works

  1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding CC.
  2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
  3. Activate Urn of Godfire's first ability by paying 2, adding G mana.
  4. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying G mana.
  5. Repeat.

This loop relies on transforming Promised Kannushi into an endlessly recurring loop piece by leaning on Arcane Adaptation to blanket your deck and graveyard with the chosen creature type. When you sacrifice Promised Kannushi to Ashnod's Altar, its Soulshift trigger uses that newly acquired creature type to reliably pull itself right back out of the graveyard and into your hand. You then use the mana generated by the altar alongside the mana filtering from Urn of Godfire to recast the creature for cheap, setting up a self-sustaining engine of perpetual life-and-death cycles.
