How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding 2.
2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying 1.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Promised Kannushi into an endlessly recurring engine by leveraging a sweeping transformation across the board. With Arcane Adaptation naming "Spirit" and Mycosynth Lattice turning all permanents into artifacts (while also ensuring all cards and spells are colorless), Promised Kannushi seamlessly satisfies its own soulshift trigger by viewing itself as a valid Spirit target when it dies. You simply feed Promised Kannushi to Ashnod's Altar to generate the necessary mana, letting the soulshift trigger return the card right back to your hand so you can recast it and repeat the cycle indefinitely.
