How it works

1. Activate Marrow-Gnawer by tapping it and sacrificing another Rat, creating at least one 1/1 Rat creature token.
2. When the Rat enters the battlefield as a Pirate due to Arcane Adaptation, Coercive Recruiter triggers, untapping Marrow-Gnawer.
3. Repeat.
4. If you control at least two other Rats, this combo creates infinite additional Coercive Recruiter triggers, which can be used to untap any creature(s) infinitely and/or to gain control of any number of creature(s) until end of turn.

This clever loop transforms your entire colony into a sweeping army by having Arcane Adaptation redefine every Rat you control as a Pirate as well. This subtle enchantment is the glue of the engine, ensuring that every token birthed by Marrow-Gnawer’s sacrifice ability triggers Coercive Recruiter's control-stealing and untapping effect upon entry. Because Marrow-Gnawer’s ability untaps itself through the resulting Coercive Recruiter trigger—provided you have enough fodder to keep the sacrifice going—you can infinitely repeat this cycle to flood the board with rats and permanently seize control of opposing battlefields.
