How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Sakashima the Impostor.
2. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Sakashima the Impostor by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop thrives on the playful interaction between Grim Poppet and a clone of itself shaped by Sakashima the Impostor, using the -1/-1 counters they continually trade back and forth to keep the engine running. Every time a counter is shifted to fuel either creature's activated ability, Flourishing Defenses spots the new counter being placed and rewards you with a fresh 1/1 green Elf Warrior creature token. Because Sakashima the Impostor retains its own identity while copying the Poppet, the two can endlessly juggle counters between them—draining opposing boards if you point the counters elsewhere, or simply generating infinite creature tokens and entering-the-battlefield triggers on demand.
