How it works

1. Palisade Giant redirects all damage that would be dealt to you or a permanent you control to it.
2. Because Rune-Tail's Essence prevents any damage that would be dealt to Palisade Giant, no damage can be dealt to you or permanents you control.

This elegant defensive lock centers around Palisade Giant acting as a massive lightning rod, intercepting every single point of damage that would normally be dealt to you or any of your other permanents. Normally, absorbing all that punishment would quickly destroy the Giant, but Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant easily solves that problem once you've reached 30 or more life by transforming into Rune-Tail's Essence. The resulting static shield completely nullifies any damage that would be dealt to creatures you control, meaning the damage meant for Palisade Giant is redirected into it and then magically prevented entirely, leaving you and your entire board completely untouchable.
