How it works

1. Activate Mogg Fanatic by sacrificing it.
2. When Mogg Fanatic dies, Mortuary and Syr Vondam trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Mogg Fanatic from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Syr Vondam trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and putting a +1/+1 counter on Syr Vondam.
5. Resolve the Mogg Fanatic ability.
6. Cast Mogg Fanatic from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This loop turns a humble goblin into an infinite engine by leveraging a clever recycling trick: when you sacrifice Mogg Fanatic to ping any target, Mortuary immediately catches it on its way to the graveyard and stacks it right back on top of your library. From there, Bolas's Citadel steps in to bypass normal mana constraints, letting you recast the goblin directly from the top of your library for a mere 1 life instead of its mana cost. Meanwhile, Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar sits on the battlefield watching the creature die, happily capitalizing on each iteration to trigger a life gain and grow with a permanent +1/+1 counter. Because the Citadel's life payment is easily offset by Syr Vondam's steady stream of life gain, you can repeat this cycle endlessly to clear out your opponents and grow your army infinitely.
